As you can see from the photos, there are some great ads for local clothing stores, cars, stoves, Sloan’s Liniment, farm equipment, and—my—favorite, a rug dealer who doubled as the town’s undertaker. Hey, you gotta diversify if necessary.
There’s also a full page ad for the upcoming 1914 Clinton County Fair.
Some of the newspapers are in pretty good shape for being over a hundred years old. Some aren’t. But they’re a great look at life in mid-Michigan way back in the day.
