Sietsema Farms is looking for a Sow Unit Technician for their farrowing swine production division who has experience in equipment repair and maintenance. If you are interested in working with animals this rewarding career might be for you! Competitive wages starting at $18.00/hour, negotiable based on experience; plus $4000-$5000 annually in attendance and performance bonuses. This position will provide 40-45 hours of work a week. Normal working hours are 7:00am-3:00pm during the weekdays. Also, will need to work every other weekend 4-5 hours per day.
Responsibilities: Daily animal care and feeding, Monitoring the barn environment and Following Standard Operating Procedures in a swine breeding and farrowing operation. This position would also be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing farm equipment to ensure safe, efficient and uninterrupted daily operations. This role includes preventative maintenance, responding to equipment alarms or breakdowns, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, and performing timely repairs on ventilation, feeding, watering, heating and automated systems.
Requirements: Experience in equipment repair and maintenance is required. Candidate must also have excellent animal husbandry skills, Available to work every other weekend, and Lift a minimum of 50 lbs. are also necessary in this position.
